How to Maintain and Care For a Washer and Dryer Combo
Washer and dryer combo, if the name hasn’t given it away, is a combination of a washing machine and a dryer. This makes up a very convenient laundry machine because the machine will transition into the drying stage once it has finished the washing cycle. You need not baby sit your clothes in the laundry and transfer it into a separate dryer.
There are a lot of advantages to using this washing machine in addition to being more convenient. One is the lessening of mold formation in your clothes. Some of us tend to forget that our laundry is the washer. Since they are not completely dry yet, molds tend to grow in them.
But today, we are going to talk about how best to maintain and care for washer and dryer combo. Here are some of the tips you should do:
1. Only put the right amount of clothes. If the washer can hold 7 kilograms of garments, do not stuff in exactly 7 kilograms of garments. Give it enough room to move around the drum. This will help dissolve detergent better and will help evenly rinse and clean your clothes better.
2. Use a small amount of HE detergent. Washer and dryer combos are more efficient washers. Therefore, they require the use of HE detergent only to reduce suds formation. If you use ordinary detergent, suds will collect in the washer’s drum and might possibly enter the motor. This will then impair its washing and drying functions. According to experts, even half a tablespoon of HE detergent is already enough to clean a full laundry load.
3. Remove lint from the lint filter regularly. Once a week or at least two times a month, pry the lint trap loose and remove the lint trapped in the screen. Clogging of lint can cause washer noise and exhaust failure.
4. Using a shop vacuum, vacuum the dryer exhaust pipes. Remove as much dirt, lint and dust as you can. This will help improve the efficiency of your dryer.
5. Clean your washer at least once a week. Make sure you remove detergent residues, and lime deposits in the washer drum and drain pipes. You might also want to run an empty hot water cycle and add a cup of white vinegar with it every other week to avoid moldy smell.
6. Clean the water filter to help improve water pressure and water flow. Also make sure that there are no kinks in the water hoses.
